I am Pam Brunson, owner of Quilting Design, LLC (dba Quilting Design by Pam), and a longarm quilter in Davis County, Utah. Since a young age, my mother taught me to sew. I have loved the art of creating beautiful things ever since. High School and College brought clothing construction classes; in fact, I began college by majoring in Clothing & Textiles with a minor in Business, but ended up graduating in Business. I loved sewing English smocked dresses and lined jackets for my daughter when she was young, and using my sewing skills to help decorate my home. I have a passion for fabric and beautiful designs!
About ten years ago I began quilting, not realizing how much I would fall in love with this art form! I began taking quilting classes through K&H Quilt Shoppe in Kaysville, Utah, learning the Harriet Hargrave quilting methods, including her Master Class. I took almost every quilting class I could, including applique, Blocks of the Month, hand embroidery, and have recently fallen in love with wool applique. I soon became interested in longarm quilting. I was taking my quilts to various longarm quilters and loved the finished product – I dreamed of being able to quilt them for myself someday. I trained on a longarm machine at my favorite quilt shop in Midway, Utah, to see if this was something I would like to do in the future. It was then my love of longarm quilting started, and I began to dream of having my own machine. I have planned and prepared myself to make this dream come true. I trained with Dara Tomasson, an international lecturer, in her class “How to Start a Longarm Quilting Business,” to prepare for this new venture. In the spring of 2019, after searching for just the right machine, I purchased a Bernina Q24 Longarm Machine. We have since finished off a studio in our basement to give it a home. I’ve included photos of my new studio in the Photo Gallery.
A shoutout to my husband, Mark Brunson, for his hard work and patience in helping me make this dream come true – a studio full of everything I need to create beautiful quilts! My ‘batting cage’ and thread shelves were custom built by Mark, my ‘Every Quilt Has a Story’ wall hanging was custom made by our daughter, Sara. (If you’d like one, or have your own favorite saying, she’ll take custom orders, just message me for information.) Watch for additions to my website as more designs and photos will be added regularly.
Thank you for sharing this journey with me!
